Press release
June 16th, 2009 Studie Beurs 2009 event is cancelled. It has been taken over by VNU Exhibitions Europe.
Malmberg Publishers announces that VNU Exhibitions Europe in Holland is the new owner of Studie Beurs (Scope on the globe). Studie Beurs is the event for Dutch secondary school students where they can meet universities, employers and institutes and get more information about their future studies and careers. Before selling Studie Beurs, Malmberg decided to cancel the 2009 event. Malmberg felt that due to the economic recession fewer exhibitors would participate, and there would therefore be less diversity and less visitors than in previous years. From 14 – 16 October 2010, VNU Exhibitions will launch the new Studie Beurs concept of at Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
New owner VNU Exhibitions and Malmberg are both very pleased with the take-over. According to Johan Leenaars, Chief Financial Officer of Malmberg, Studie Beurs has real potential for growth as making the right educational choice is becoming increasingly important. “Malmberg Publishers is a successful publisher of educational materials that recognises Studie Beurs’ growing potential. VNU Exhibitions Europe is well known for organising events and fairs. We’re convinced VNU will be able to turn Studie Beurs into a major event.”
John van der Valk, director of Fairs & Cross Media at VNU Exhibitions Europe comments: ”In Holland, VNU Exhibitions is the largest player in events and fairs. We have considerable experience with - for example - the National Education Fair (“NOT”) and Education & ICT Fair. We have the expertise, market knowledge, innovative skills and contacts within the Education system, which is why VNU is the best organisation to meet the information demands of both educational organisations and employers. I see a bright future for Studie Beurs.”
Studie Beurs (Scope on the globe) Studie Beurs is the only national fair where secondary school students have a total overview of universities, polytechnics, intermediate vocational schools and, importantly, employers. The fair provides students with information on both Dutch and foreign education opportunities. Studie Beurs is supported by the National Dean Society, the NVS/NVL.
This event has been organised annually since 1993, and has become renowned. The last event by Malmberg in 2008 attracted 46.000 students and almost 200 Dutch exhibitors and 65 exhibitors from all over the world. The international exhibitors can be found in the ‘Scope on the Globe’ section. At the 2008 event, 60% of all who attended visited this section.
